Personal Emoluments.

142. The title of the head of this department has been changed to Controller of Stores and his salary has been revised. This officer was formerly responsible for Public Works Department Accounts also; on the change over the post of Deputy Superintendent of Accounts and Stores has lapsed, the holder of that post replacing an S.C. & A. officer as Accountant in the Water Department. The post of Assistant Storekeeper has been abolished, the holder being promoted to Storekeeper, while the salary scale of the Inspector of Stores has been revised and reduced. Three addi- tional Class VIB Clerks have been provided, two for general duties and one to assist in the Furniture Store.

HEAD 30. TREASURY,

143. In consequence of the reorganization of the financial departments, Per- sonal Emoluments are now divided between the Accountant-General. Assessor's Office and Inland Revenue Office. In 1938 the salaries of four administrative officers were provided under Treasury, Head 4. One was an officer on leave; of the other three the Financial Secretary is now provided under the Colonial Secretary's Office. Head 2, the post of Senior Assistant Colonial Treasurer has disappeared as part of the reorganization and the Deputy Estate Duty Commissioner has become Superintendent of Inland Revenue,

144. Provision is made, with the approval of the Secretary of State, for a Third Assistant Assessor who is considered necessary to enable the increasing number of assessments to be reviewed properly and at sufficiently frequent intervals.
